three-martini lunch

A business meal with large quantities of alcohol to loosen up the customer. During the Carter administration, the term came to represent special tax privileges accorded to business, the ability to include lavish entertainment as a business expense.
► “There’s a sense that the daily slack of earlier eras - the weekday golf foursome, the bridge games and vegetable gardens, the three-martinilunches, chats across the fence, and pure, uncontrollable laughter - is fast disappearing.” (Wall Street Journal, March 8, 1996, p. R1)

American business jargon. 2014.
